Free video editing software

Go to solution Solved by noahdvs,

I haven't used it at all, but I've heard Kdenlive is the best free video editor, but it's only available on Linux and I heard that before there was a free version of DaVinci Resolve.

Windows movie maker is the easiest.

Windows Movie Maker is good enough for what you want.. likely.

You can even force it to output above 1080p 60fps as well. 1440p/4k mp4s if so desired..with tweaking a saved preset in notepad to do so, after you create it you then edit the resolution, bitrate and fps if need be in a txt editor, as long as you dont re-edit and save the preset in-app it will stick. Just label them appropriately.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz

It seems like it's not a freeware, and I'm having a problem similar to the one mentioned here : https://forum.blackmagicdesign.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=36046

Thanks a lot. Kdenlive is by far the best video editor I've ever used on Linux, if not the best on any platform. There is room for improvement, but it's still a very solid option since it uses ffmpeg, which I've been using a lot in the past few years. Projects can be either rendered directly from the software, or you can choose to generate a ffmpeg command, which is awesome if you want to render a video on a server (no more CPU or bandwidth issues this way). It's also very light and present on most distros repositories.
