I've seen questions like this start flame wars. Personally I use either Arctic Silver 5 ceramic polysynthetic compound if I'm applying it to a bare die surrounded by conductors (non-conductive). Good stuff. Not the most expensive. Then a little more expensive if I'm applying compound to a IHS plate I use Arctic Silver 5 polysynthetic silver. The first is a pastel white color. The second is a dark grey.

best is probably not what you want to ask for. there's "good enough", and then there's "pay 10 times more for every extra °c you gain".

 

i've been using a tube of MX-4 on pretty much everything in the last 4 years, and i've yet to be disappointed.

On those links that I provided you can see that NH-H1 is pretty good. Right after CLU. And you don't want to use that anyway. It's mostly for deliding if you ask me.

 

NH1 or artic silver 5. Whichever you can find cheaper or in stock.
