Hi I have a MSI GL62 i5,8GB, 950 , no ssd, 1tb hdd laptop. And I got a deal to exchange this to a Asus ROG GL552JX i7 4720HQ, 16 GB, 950,no ssd, 1TB hdd one. (I have to pay extra US$100.)

Is it worth to move to a ROG series? (considering long time usage or something may be)

depends on what you want to do. the i7 has hyper-threading and could come in handy for some tasks but wont make much of a difference in games as the gpu will start to limit you far faster than the gpu. unless you were playing something like an rts or other cpu intensive strategy games and even though i don't know for certain that it would matter.

I'd go for the ROG laptop, lots of newer games are starting to use more threads and RAM and I've had pretty good experience with ROG in the past.

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

not worth. unless upgrading ram is only to cost you 100 dollars. the 950 will bottleneck any game before the i7 can be taken advantage of.

Thanks. Is there any specialty in ROG series apart from specs? Since my current one isn't a gaming series laptop.

Nope not really

Yeah the only difference I can see is visual and possibly beefier cooling over a more mass market laptop.

My point was that my ROG laptop performed well in the cooling arena

I would pick the ROG because I7 ;) Although you have to pay 100USD you get 8 extra GB of ram and the GPU stay the same. 950 is kind of out perform right now but for 100USD you're getting a nice deal.

CPU - R9 5900X | GPU - ASUS KO RTX 3070 | Storage - 500GB Samsung 850 Evo SSD, 8TB Seagate HDD , 4TB Seagate HDD | Ram - 64GB DDR4 | OS - Windows 10 Pro | Case - NZXT S340 black
