audio not working over hdmi

2FOX

Hey guys. I have a BenQ gl2450hm monitor that has built in speakers. I have connected it to my cpu via hdmi. But I get no sound. When I go to playback devices it says digital audio(HDMI) not plugged in. Please help.

I never used HDMI on my iGPU. Are there any audio drivers you need to install for it to work?

If you are running an AMD card and you don't use the correct adaptor that comes in the box I know that they strip away the audio. It was on the news a while ago so you might want to change to DVI or something like that.

I am using intel 4670k. Also I uncovered another weird problem. I use my headphones to play back sound. The music is fine but I can barely hear any voices. Even if I watch videos without music the voice volume is very low or non existent

Sounds like you are trying to play 5.1 audio through stereo without downmixing.

Do you have the latest graphics drivers from Intel installed? I Google'd your problem and some people say changing your primary video device in the BIOS to onboard fixes the issue.

Another problem might be that you have disabled the audio source. Here is a guide on how to check disabled audio devices in Windows 7.

Thanks for your reply LAwLz. I had to update my gpu driver from intel. That fixes the problem.
