time for the good old buiness laptops. There built well, have good warranties, water restant keyboards, touch sticks, docking stations, matte screens normally.

Id look at a dell e5470, e7470 or a thinkpad t470/t460. You can also get 12 and 15 in versions if you want

How heavy are these uses? SQL server can't get insane from what I've seen from our engineer

You can either opt for a X270 king of battery life and mobility. or something with more ompf and a quadcore. There's a Dell Latitude E5480 with a quad core + 930m for cuda acceleration in the event you ever need it and tb3 for anything dock wise. Or stick with the old school PGA laptopst hat have socketed CPUs that can slot in quad cores in really nice and small form factors. @Dackzy @Mark77 link some fabled old school non thinkpad laptops with socket CPUs for that quad core goodness. I never really memorized the Dell line up and the HP lineup has been confusing me since kingdom come.

why none ThinkPad? I am sure that I can find some Dell laptops with a socket CPU, but not HP, I HATE their older laptops (and a lot of their newer models), so I got no clue of the models. I normally call HP for Hot Piss, so yeah.

Before you buy amp and dac.  My thoughts on the M50x  Ultimate Ears Reference monitor review I might have a thing for audio...

My main Headphones and IEMs:  K612 pro, HD 25 and Ultimate Ears Reference Monitor, HD 580 with HD 600 grills

DAC and AMP: RME ADI 2 DAC

Speakers: Genelec 8040, System Audio SA205

Receiver: Denon AVR-1612

Desktop: R7 1700, GTX 1080  RX 580 8GB and other stuff

Laptop: ThinkPad P50: i7 6820HQ, M2000M. ThinkPad T420s: i7 2640M, NVS 4200M

Feel free to pm me if you have a question for me or quote me. If you want to hear what I have to say about something just tag me.

Thanks all for your suggestions. Can I get some model names. Also, I'm a lttle confused here. If I check the prices of lenovo thinkpad or dell's latitude series, for that price I can get a MSI gaming laptop with almost same specs. Now, my priority is not gaming. But, what is the difference between them. Can anyone please explain

A ThinkPad or latitude is built worlds better than any gaming laptop, that is also why they cost so much, but I am not sure that I would recommend going the route with a older laptop with a PGA CPU.

The latest laptop I can remember on top of my head that has PGA is the T440p, where you can get a i7 4900MQ

Ur looking at retail prices for Thinkpads and business line laptops. Those are EXTREMELY expensive because they sell to corporate. Look on ebay refurb and thinkpad outlets for the good prices.
