Hi, I have a question. Is it possible to use two single gpu cards with motherboard that supports quad crossfirex?

if you have two dual GPU cards (6990, 7990, 295x2, Pro Duo, etc), then yes

Those people just do it for fun, and to try and have the fastest of X segment in the world

Of course it doesn't make any practical sense to do for a gaming PC

How is it any different from trying to trick out your Track car? Aside from it being cheaper, with 480s anyways

I think most people think you're asking about dual GPU cards, but yes, motherboards support quad xfire will be fine with 2 way or 3 way as well.

It's just numbers on a leaderboard that don't matter to anyone except the person at the top.

 

If want your name on a leaderboard you can just pay a leaderboard website such as highscore.money or something like it.

 

By tricking out a car you actually change something physical that you can show off at car shows, friends, etc.

You also get learning experience by doing it.

You don't learn anything by buying expensive old GPUs and overclocking them and hoping you get lucky.

 

Just buy lottery tickets at that point.
