Just throwing this out there, Amazon Drive is free with an Amazon Prime account and has no limit to how many images it stores (Google Drive is free but limited to unlimited compressed images or 15GB of uncompressed images).

 

If you can give us an idea of how much data you'll be storing I can provide a better suggestion for a home NAS.

I was going to recommend a Orange Pi Plus since it outperforms the Raspberry Pi, has a 1Gbps port, and onboard SATA.

This, if all you want is store pictures just used Amazon drive.
