Bottleneck

Can there be a bottleneck with an i3-3240 4GB of RAM and Sapphire's RX 480 8GB Nitro model?

Very small or none, depending on what you are going to do with the setup, 4GB of RAM might be a problem!

yes the processing power is weaker than the graphical processing power however it shouldnt be such an issue aside the CPU intensive games like GTA V, ACU etc... it will still be a pretty solid combo.

8gb ram would be nicer... it is the new sweet spot.

CS:GO is nowhere near CPU intensive. That would be a game like Battlefield 1, Dying Light, GTA V, Deus Ex, etc.

I have finally moved to a desktop. Also my guides are outdated as hell.

CS:GO's source engine is CPU intensive, but you still need a decent GPU

It still isnt the best example you can give when talking about CPU intensive games...

Cpu intensive doesn't mean that it can use a lot of threads. If it was cpu intensive it would get 50-60 fps on an i5. Not hundreds.... If it can run well on an i3, it's not cpu intensive

It is CPU intensive, but not as much as BF1 or Watch_dogs 2

If cs:go is cpu intensive then so is minesweeper. You're wrong. A game that gets HUNDREDS of fps on mainstream consumer cpus is NOT cpu intensive. You can't just wave your hand and magically proclaim it to be so.

To be fair, usually when people say a game is CPU intensive, they mean it relies more on the CPU than the GPU. It doesn't mean you're going to struggle to run it. I guess the term could use some rebranding...

So redefine the term huh? Cpu intensive means the workload on the cpu is heavy. If not then bf1 wouldn't be considered cpu intensive because it relies heavily on the gpu. And hell that logic falls flat when you consider the fact that almost every pc game has graphics options which you can turn down to make the game rely less on the gpu. There by making every game cpu intensive. So if everything is cpu intensive what does the term even mean?

So what's the next definition you'll use to try and placate people who are flat out wrong? If game runs well on low end hardware it's not intensive. It's rather simple.

You don't need to get upset with me. I'm agreeing with you, "intensive" doesn't mean what people use it as. However, I was pointing out that the people saying it's "CPU intensive" probably mean it's more reliant on the CPU.

Yes, you can change settings to put more workload on the GPU and vice versa, but some games are by default, more CPU dependent. The Arma franchise is a good example of this, if you have a great CPU, you can run the game fine with no higher than a GTX 750ti.

Just because most people use the them incorrectly (like the majority on this site does with bottleneck) doesn't make them any less wrong. Sorry if it seemed like I was upset with you, it's more or less the people that redefine terms to suit their lack of understanding that upset me.

No it's fine, and again, I'm agreeing with you. It's not the correct usage, it's just easier to consider that they're probably meaning something else when saying it :)
