define file sharing - because that would require at least  a sqlite server, most likely mysql and some php and node.js and some angular javascript to create a web app hosted on a fairly large home server that has a fast upload and download speed - development and hosting costs would run into the thousands if it's going to be large - if you can program it yourself - as in you somehow know swift, sqlite, mysql, php, node js react js angular js and web design and c and java, then hosting it will cost

File sharing as in Peer-to-Peer or like what GDrive is? Also, I know for Android you can use C/C++ or Java. For Windows Phone I believe any of the C Family languages, and for iOS it supports Swift, C/C++ and Objective-C. So if you want to put it all those then use C/C++.

I think he means he is doing it for his college, not as an assignment.

Oh I though it was like something he was required to do......

It needs to host at max 50 students (class strength) we might upscale later (entire college :about 2k)

Keep the app simple, don't go complex. Lots of games, crossy roads, flappy birds, angry birds, are all simple but have made a lot of money too.

Not looking to make money, just for the gigs

ok, so what im looking at here isn't the programming experience, anyone with some programming knowledge can pick up sql and php very easily to make a web app for transferring files - the only issue im looking at is the storage, 50 students, maybe 50 gigs per student, so we'll say 1tb of ssds at least, and more to host the website, you will need a server to do that - so that's 1grand, internet speeds to manage this without slowing would have to be huge, so it may end up costing 2500 usd per year as you upscale more and more - in terms of programming, you can talk to me if you encounter any issues, i do this for a living :)

html and css and javascript is enough to make the website, but the web app should use either php .net and mysql or sqlite or angular - or try telerik - that's a good option without needing too much raw code
