Re-install windows w/o Losing data.

Is there a easy way to reinstall 8.1 without loosing all my data? because i cant get windows 8.1 to "refresh" its self with the windows 8 disc. (any way of doing that is pretty much what im asking)

You could image it with acornis?

There is a way if you get to the advanced boot in windows 8 http://pcsupport.about.com/od/windows-8/a/open-advanced-startup-options-windows-8.htm

then you refresh it from there

then you back up everything you want, then you put it back on hard drive after refresh

Windows 8 has a refresh option as well as some others, i know one of them installs windows without touching personal files etc.

But 8.1 cant refresh w/o a 8.1 disk..
