Well, a card box Its not a great conducting material neither solid/waterproof/humidity, etc... So as soon as It gets wet because of ambient humidity, something spilled, or anything like that youll have to build a new one, so as a challenge It sounds interesting but I dont think Its practical.

It's not practical, preferably you should use a test bench.

With the right material it can be done (safely).  A nice finished wood box would probably be better than just some cardboard box.  Make sure it's well ventilated and that your components are all on some kind of standoffs, not actually making contact with the wood.  Drawer PCs come to mind.

If you have a component hot enough to light cardboard on fire, you have other issues xD.

You're fine.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Well it depends on how well it's ventilated, if it has a couple of wide holes with fans or your system isn't very hot then it should work fine.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

Oh, if you just mean for storing, just wrap it in some bubblewrap.  The box wont kill the parts but overtime the box could get damp from humidity.

Cardboard doesn't hold static, why you use the box the motherboard came in to test it.

I wasn't going to say it does.  It's just not something I would suggest for the long term.  Just probably would be a good idea to ventilate it and use some kind of motherboard standoffs to avoid not just overheating but humidity buildup (or the risk of just getting damp).  Use it like a normal case.

In the short term, no issues.  I've used mobos on cardboard before (raspberry pis especially).

had the LAN PC 1.0 in one, no problems exept for mounting

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)
