500w PSU okay?

Hi,

I'm new here.

I'm building a system in a Phanteks evolve M-ITX case.  The parts sum up to just under 300w, so should I be looking for a 500-600w range PSU?

I want modular, to reduce cable clutter.

Also, was considering a Corsair RM550x or EVGA 550 G3?  Which one is better, more reliable?

You can't go wrong with either the RMx or the G3  

Both are great units  

 

You can however just get something like a 400-450watt PSU as if a calculator sums it up to 300watts, it's probably only going to consume 200-275 watts under load so...

Thank you.  I thought, I should aim to run any PSU at 50% load for maximum efficiency.

 

Any recommendations in the 450w power range?

In a small case like that Evolv then I'd get the G3 which is hilariously small for how fantastic it is.

Is there anything between them on noise/quietness?  I like silence as it will be on my desk!
