Getting temperature increases

Hey there, still pretty new to the forums so I hope I posted this to the right category.

I recently got a ASUS GTX 1070 to add to my rig, consisting of a i5-3550 and 8GB of RAM. Before adding the 1070, I had a 750 and my CPU temps were in the mid 30's on idle and high 50's under load. After adding the 1070, my idle CPU temps are high 30's to low 40's and high 50's to mid 60's under load. I'm assuming this is because the 1070 is a much beefier card, producing more heat, but I just wanted to ask just in case. Should I consider upgrading my CPU fan? I'm currently using an Alpine 11 for a CPU cooler, and I plan on upgrading to a Cryorig H7 or a Hyper 212 Evo. Would this upgrade lower my CPU temps back to what they used to be, if not better? I feel pretty uncomfortable seeing my CPU in the mid 60's while just playing games.

Thanks again.

the GTX 750 has a 75W TDP, while the 1070 has a 150w TDP . more heat yes, it shouldnt be too much of a problem.  new cpu cooler may or may not chance temps, add more intake fans. can help bring in more cool air.

I've been getting thermal throttled a bit in my games, causing a lot of dropped frames.

I just have a 120mm rear fan that came in my case and I'm not able to install fans in the front.

Your CPUs rated operating temp is 67C. It won't thermal throttle before hitting that number. Actually, it will be fine up to 80C before you are going to see any throttling. Can you post pic of CPU clocks when this "throttling" is happening? You can use Afterburners graphs (double click on graph to separate them in own window) if you don't have second monitor or other monitoring options.

The tcase of 67c refers to the IHS. Core temps will usually be 10-20c higher.

If the temps you are reporting are correct, you shouldn't have experienced any thermal throttling.

If you are having frames dropped, it's probably due to something else.

What games are you experiencing these issues in? Are you drivers up to date?
