Hey, i have some questions about ryzen

1. Is it worth it?

2. If i did wait would it be more  powerful than an Kaby lake CPU of the same price?

3. how much will they cost

4. How powerful will the APU power be?

5. Will i need a expensive MOBO?

SO MANY QUESTIONSSSSSSSSSS

How about you wait until it actually launches and every tech publication and their dog takes it upon themselves to answer the questions you and everyone in the tech enthusiast community has.

just fucking wait.

Could've waited 5 seconds to post that after my reply, would've been more hilarious.

  1. wait for benchmarks *
  2. maybe, [see 1]
  3. between 300 and 500$ at the top end , similar to i7 **
  4. people hope for RX460 levels on the gpu and i5 on the cpu , ill say below 460 (but not by a country mile) and maybe i5 cpu perf w/ a 4c/8t? depends really [see 1]
  5. no , a320´s are in the 50$ range (those which are out there on german retailers bundle w/ an a12-9800 for 200€) the better boards wich can OC will be 70~150, i dont see amd pulling an X99 on the mobocosts , they never did ***

It most likely won't be faster than an i7 7700K at 5ghz for single core performance, but you're going to get more cores most likely that makes it a better buy overall, if a game uses 8 threads very well, and you've got an 8c/8t Ryzen chip compared to the 4c/8t Kaby Lake chip, the ryzen chip should be faster assuming clock speeds are close

Ryzen APU isn't due for a while, they will have current gen APU stuff that should get a pretty good boost from using DDR4

With Ryzen you can overclock on a mid range motherboard, so no you don't exactly need an expensive board, though you may want one anyways

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Why is AMD blaspheming Zen Buddhism by ripping off its name?  Good question.  Credit to Zen and Buddhist that they don't care lol.

As far as the chip...It will more than likely be on par with what Intel has and AMD will be a viable alternative...so yes it will be worth it.  I seriously doubt it is going to be better though.  Physical cores are better than logical cores, but IPC matters and AMD is not on par with Intel in that regard so AMD's 8 cores = Intel's 4 cores.

If you've waited this long to build a new computer, one more month to find out for sure won't ruin you.
