I am trying to build a $400 PC, I run some vms and play games like minecraft but no aaa games like crisis. I need such a cheep build without used parts because I am only 9 and have taken apart broken computers countless times am I think i'm ready to build an actual computer that can be used normally . I have no idea what parts to use am am not looking to overclock, needless to say no modding and it has to be easy to build. Even if this is impossible it would be nice to have the most powerful computer possible for basic tasks

Crap, read right past VMs. Editing my post to remove that option. The G4560 is a dual core with HT, though, so it might actually stand an outside chance.

I'm not really sure an A10 will handle VMs well.

You sure you can't get used PC parts? If you are only 9, get your mom to drive you to a local PC recycling center. If you are 9, they will probably just give you a couple of things like a case and PSU for free.

I wouldn't get a PSU from there as they could kill you (warning).

That's why I chose a FX processor, I know they are shit but it has 6 cores, so he can allocate 2 cores for a VM.

Where do you live?

I just went to my local scrapyard last week and picked a Delta 750w ATX power supply out of the bins there. They said PSUs sell for aluminum scrap for $0.2 a pound so they gave it to me for free. It CAN work, but you need to know what to look for.

Live far from recycling center more that 75 miles away

Here's something I threw together:

Get a dell optiplex 990: ($127.96)

This will give us a desktop with a core i5, 8GB of RAM, a motherboard and a case.

a 500GB SSHD: ($60)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822179112&cm_re=hybrid_drives-_-22-179-112-_-Product

GTX 1050 ti: ($140)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814487290

Total is $330.

yeah. Not only is it much more powerful in the CPU department than the builds above, but it is also cheaper. This is why I always try to go used.

Seams like maybe a good idea

Bad build. An FX 6300 is about the stupidest decision you could make right now. A G4560 is cheaper and has an upgrade path, and Zen will be out in a mere month.

You could fit a better GPU in there too if you hadn't blown so much money on antiquated and unnecessary hardware, and there's no storage.

Wait for Zen if you can. If not, build this.

IMPORTANT- Buy your motherboard from a computer store- not online. Find a motherboard that was manufactured in November 2016 or later, to ensure that is shipped out with the BIOS update required to support Kabylake CPUs like this one.

  • $400 PC.
  • Minecraft- CPU intensive title here.
  • He does not want to incorporate used hardware.
  • He is NOT LOOKING TO OVERCLOCK
  • Easy-to-build- Intel's stock cooler is the easiest cooler in the world to install.
  • Most powerful computer possible for basic tasks (on his budget). A much faster CPU with vastly superior single-threded performance like the G4560 would make a night-and-day difference.

The Pentium G4560 is on par with the Core i3 6100- faster when paired with DDR4 2400 memory. It's a hell of a lot faster than the FX-6300, and it's $40 cheaper.

An RX 470 may be overkill for casual titles, but it makes for the best possible combination with a G4560, and if he ever wants to play triple-A titles or have a very future-proof configuration, he won't even have to upgrade.

Fitting in a better CPU at the cost of GPU power is a bad idea. The only significant improvements will come with an upgrade to a Core i5 6500 or a similar CPU, and they're over $100 more. This is the best value. This is the best configuration for the money unless/until Zen beats it.
