I just got myself a new case and liquid cooler for my computer, previously I had just been using the stock cooler due to my budget plus the 4.16Ghz I was getting seemed fine. Now I'm trying to overclock my CPU for video rendering and 3D rendering, I had it up to 4.8Ghz on 1.3v but it wasn't very stable, so I backed it down to 4.7Ghz at 1.28v. It's been running Aida64 for 20 minutes and the temps are staying around 70c, would this be a good place to keep it? Also once I decide to keep it I can just set the voltage mode to adaptive in the bios and leave it right?

Like the others said, stress the CPU a bit more to be sure. Regarding temperatures, you don't have to worry below 80°C. A lot of people will tell you that anything above 70°C isn't tolerable for Haswell, but it's not true. Your chip can handle 75-80°C no problem so you're far below anything concerning. I wouldn't go above 1.3V though, especially if you can get 4.7GHz at 1.28V. My i7 4790K sits at 4.6GHz at 1.24V and I also need 1.28V like you to get 4.7GHz stable but I don't feel that 100MHz is worth the +0.04V

Temps and voltage seems fine.

Try to run AIDA64 FPU+CPU+cache test over night and if it survives that, you should be okay.

I would also test it with Intel Xtreme utility and prime95, just to make sure.

Alright thanks guys, because I have such a large case and radiator I don't think it's necessary to run a burn in for more than a few hours. I tried leaving it overnight just now but forgot this was a new install of windows and came down to see it sleeping lol. Atleast so far it can definitely go for an hour!
