My PC is 2 years old. I'm playing at 1440p resolution now, but haven't change my components yet. Waiting for Ryzen and Vega :).

Still a good pc you should upgrade in 3-4 years time if you care more of fps than graphics

I put a 1070 in my system and it made a considerable difference in performance at 1440p

"Outdated" is somewhat of a subjective and sometimes questionable term. However, for the purpose of what you're looking to do with it, it is still a perfectly capable gaming PC.

I'd consider another 2x4gb kit of ram or sell that kit and put in a 2x8gb kit.  8gb will do ya for most things, but it wouldn't be a bad step to ensure the machine lasts another 2 or more years.

There's something cool here - you just can't see it.

I agree.  A RAM upgrade is the only thing I could recommend.  But even with 8GB, it's still a great build.

Ok thank you all for the answers :). Indeed it's still a nice computer, but playing games at WQHD resolution with a 970 is the only bottleneck indeed. Plus my case is too big (CM StormTrooper), I'd want a smaller case (microATX) but I can still wait a few months to upgrade. I'll just keep my awesome monitor and sell the tower.
