Hello everyone,

Today as I was testing out my new 1070, out of nowhere my CPU started overheating. When I say overheating I mean it reached 100 degrees. The processor is an i7-4770k running on an Asus Z87-puls. Currently, it is not overclocked as it is a fresh install of windows. Meaning it is running on stock speed/boost. The cooler I'm using is a Cooler Master Seidon 120V - Compact All-In-One CPU Liquid Water Cooling which has been getting me ~45 degrees under load. Now, the system is posting a "CPU temp error" and sometimes "CPU fan error". The CPU temp climbs up as if I didn't have a cooler on (2-3 degrees per sec).

So far I've tried the following:

Letting it cool down then trying -> boot up to windows but CPU temp keeps on raising.

Dusting the PC.

Removing the block, cleaning the Thermal Compound and applying a new one, and adjusting the block multiple time to make sure full contact is established.

So far nothing worked. I can hear the pump working and the block's LED confirms that the block is functioning.

I'm giving up on the block, but hoping someone can think of something that I missed.

Thank you for the help in advance.

ok is your pump on a fan header that is controlled? also try to increase the fan speed for the fan that is blowing threw the rad

the 3-pin coming out of the block is plugged to the cpu-fan connector and the fan on the rad is plugged to cpu-opt (as shown in the instruction manual provided with the cooler). the fan is at the highest setting (2500rpm).

Screenshots pls. I'd like to see what load, cpu voltages, temps and rpm readings. Since you have already remounted, check that its tight. Loose fit might cause high temps. Since it has worked fine before, this isn't sensor error.

Another thing I would test, is to connect pump to another header or even directly to PSU. Then connect rad or case fans to CPU fan to prevent the error you are seeing.

I switched both rad fan and pump connectors to cha-fan headers. Connected my exhaust fan to the cpu-fan header. same results. I took some pictures hopefully this help. You asked about load the temp is rising to around 90 degrees C within seconds of booting into bios so there should zero load.

There's something wrong with that pump. Its the only explanation I can think. If you can try with another cooler to rule out that CPU itself is faulty. Or just go for RMA for cooler.
