Adding Extra Memory

Go to solution Solved by asand1,

I take it you only have 2 slots. 12gb will out perform 8gb. The extra performance from the extra RAM will outweigh any loss from going single channel.

If you have four slots use all three sticks.

Hello, I upgraded my pc a while ago and i bought new memory, 2x4gb sticks and i had a 1x8gb stick. would i be able to take one of the 4gb sticks out and add in the 8gb? They're both ddr3. They're both different brands but both the same speeds.

Thanks
