Very surprised this didn't come with the latest BIOS but I guess it was released late last year (November). Seems to be working now. Gave me a chance to clean up the cables as well.

Specs:

7500 i5

Kingston 2400 DDR4 Hyper X Fury

Corsair 600W SFX

Gigabyte H170M

My system keeps rebooting. Ive tried different RAM in every slot and breadboarding it. I have a strong feeling it's the Kaby Lake chip not playing nicely with that chipset. I cant get into the Bios to flash it. I have a 6700K I could use that's in another system. Would that chip work in this board since it's using the H series chipset? I'd like to be able to flash it with the Q Flash Utility. Thanks!

Have you gone through the not posting causes list in the debugging section

Main causes I can think of are

-No power or not enough where its needed

-check power cables to stuff like cpu

-cpu not seated correctly

-ram, but you tried that

-power supply being twitchy, pull all its cables and reconnect

-remove, blow on and reinsert your cpu

-unplug any unessesary crap like all drives, usb hubs and the gpu (if you have integrated)

Yeah I'd guess its a bios thing and your CPU and mobo aren't getting along. Also yes you can put an i7-6700k on that board Z just usually means you can overclock the CPU with that board and doesn't mean that i7 won't work on it. But even some H boards can overclock.

Yeah I've tried this psu on another system and a new psu on this one. I can test it with a multimeter at some point. Going to try my 6700k in there to see if that gets it to stick.

Posting requires a cpu+ram+gpu and power to them all, that is it. Your problem will lie in them

I would way swapping out components and getting them to work in another system or getting another component to work in the current system is enough to rule out issues

It's working with my 6700k. I'm going to flash the BIOS now and hopefully that should resolve it.

yeah its stupid, main cause is these boards are sometimes stored by online retailers on wharehouses for years at a time. I wish the time would come when they add the ability for the boards to self update without a processor, it would prevent these issues as they come up a lot.

That would be a great idea!
