I am looking for a cheap CPU for a build that I am frankenstiening out of parts I am replacing for my current build. The GPU that I would put in it is an AMD Radeon HD 7970, now I need an 1155 socket CPU. I would like the cheapest CPU with this socket, that limits bottlenecking the best. Any suggestions?

Most like 3350P but it depends on where you're shopping from/located.

If you ever need help with a build, read the following before posting: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/3061-build-plan-thread-recommendations-please-read-before-posting/

I would get a 3570K so it will not bottleneck the 7970 and you could use this cpu for future gpu upgrades.

VIP guest i assume to put a 7970 in it xD.

since you are going all out on the gpu get one of the I5s.

I know its a spare GPU but you could sell it and pay for the new CPU and use its onboard graphics, But if it is a gamer guest, yeah get I5.

I am replacing my 7970 for a 780 or maybe a 780ti, so a 7970 is what I have.
