Not good. For example they claim that they do not log what you browse, but they do log who you are, how much you browse, what OS you use and a few other things.

They also don't allow torrenting.

 

If you want a VPN provider, use a good one like PrivateInternetAccess.

I suggest making your own. I have one and it costs me $20 a year and it has, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited users, full control, NO logs, and I know exactly who runs it. ME

Yes, but for my own VPN I turned logs off and all log locations I have a script running that clears it every 5 minutes

PIA can't defeat DPI because they still rely on third party DNS servers and the mere fact a lot of users can't access Netflix US from abroad using PIA means they can't. Netflix not only blacklisted IP addresses that belong to VPN providers but also they use DPI to block VPN access. I haven't tried Netflix with Tunnelbear just yet but the likes of VyprVPN and Express VPN already have been reported to defeat DPI by rerouting your connection to other ports and by using unmodified OpenVPN which scrambles their metadata.

Ehm... orry but either I am being stupid, or you're missing some crucial information about how VPNs and DPI works.

1) Why do you think using third party DNS servers means it "can't defeat DPI"?

2) What makes you think DPI is being used to block VPNs? DPI doesn't work on encrypted traffic, so what they do instead is use shallow packet inspection and then blocks traffic they think is bad. It seems like a pretty poor system if just scrambling the openVPN header a little bit defeats that though, but since I can't find any technical info about how GhostBear works I don't know if it does something else too.

No they don't. You don't understand how VPNs work if you think Netflix uses DPI to block VPN access.

The traffic isn't even VPN traffic once it reaches Netflix's servers. All VPN-related data is compeltely stripped from the packets before it gets sent to Netflix.

Netflix blocks on an IP basis, not with DPI.

I strongly recommend against using VyprVPN. They are not at all transparent, and have been found to be logging traffic. So if you use them, expect them to log and hand over everything you do to third parties.

That was quite a while ago though, so maybe they have changed.

ExpressVPN seems good though.

You either have modified your VPN client to scramble the metadata (whatever that means, I don't know), or you use an unmoodified OpenVPN client which does not scramble the metadata.

 

I am sorry, but it sounds like you have been reading some quite misleading PR-stuff without fully understanding how VPNs work. If what you are saying is based on PR material, could you please link it to me? I would like to look at it myself.

As far as I can understand, DPI can't read the encrypted data but it can block encrypted connections through a firewall just like the one in China.

Like I said before, I would stay far away from that VPN unless other (better) VPNs don't work for you at all.

 

VyprVPN seems sketchy as hell. For example they claim that:

Use them if you want, but if you care about privacy then I would recommend you stay away from them. They do not seem trustworthy at all.
