I recently upgraded my home internet from dsl to cable. I now get 200 down 10 up. My Modem/router (netgear c6300) is in my living room, and my pc is in my office, on the other side of the house. I have a range extender so I can connect to ethernet. However, I am getting worse signal on my pc now. I did a speed test before and after (also did a steam download test). Before I was getting the correct speed, but now I am getting worse. On my phone or other wifi devices, I get the correct speed. I tried re-configuring the range extender, but to no avail. Would it be better to set it up as an access point, rather than a range extender? Or should I ditch the extender, and run Cat. 6 cables in my attic? thanks for the help

Do you have COAX near your router and office?  If so, look at Moca 2.0 devices (https://www.amazon.com/Actiontec-Bonded-Ethernet-Adapter-ECB6200K02/dp/B013J7O3X0/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1485784502&sr=8-3&keywords=actiontec+moca)

I use that to get 'wired' connectivity to another room and I get gigabit speeds (~110-115MB/s).
