Hard Disk Failure !

Hello guys !

So my problem is that apparebly my HDD failed ! I have it over 8 years and it's a WD Caviar Blue ! 600 GB ! My problem is that I had lot's of files in there , is there a way I could possibly recover them ?

Yea, just restore it from your back up on your new drive!

in 8 years you never considered buying a backup drive?

if you plug it into another machine you might be able to pull data off it that way.

you have backups right?

 

Does it show up in disk management?

 

Try dd rescue on linux.

Nope no Backups ! Yeah it shows up but when I try opening my window stucks and it doesn't respond !

boot your system into linux and use ddrescue to make a image, thentry using something like test disk to get data.

hook the drive to another sata port and boot. see if windows find it. I usually hot swap it and then reboot.

You click restore on the utility you used to create your back up.
