resetting W10

Go to solution Solved by Daniel644,

NO. done it several times on several machines.

I cannot say that I'm 100% sure but I'd beg to guess no. The whole point of the recovery is to save the OS, wipe everything else off the disk and start "fresh" (not fresh in my opinion). This function wouldn't make sense if you had to re-enter the product key.

no, but id just reinstall the os.

People have had instances where doing this caused their Product Key to no longer work. Luke mentioned his experience with this issue in a WAN show.

No, the key is stored onto the MOBO. So you can install W7 and then go back onto W10 without putting in the key

Yup, you can openly swap between 8, 8.1 and 10, I reinstalled 10 on my PC last week to get the anniversary edition to come through using a Flash Drive then last night wiped the machine again and went back to 8.1 (which is what shipped on mine) using the flash drive method, still considering reverting to 7 and buying a key for 7, it's more compatible with my work software.
