Is it worth upgrading my CPU?

nEAt

I'm currently running a i7 6700 @ 3.4GHz and I'm wondering: should I upgrade to the "best value" of the Ryzen CPUs that will come soon?

Depends on what you do that need an upgrade. for gaming only just stick with i7 6700 you will be fine.

That 6700 will last for years to come. Just because a new cpu is coming out, dosen't mean you should ditch your old one. If you keep doing that you'll be broke

Do you upgrade your car or home appliances every time someone releases a new one?

If you have a use (major) for the extra cores of the top Ryzen chip (video editing etc) then yes, if it's just gaming, day to day use and occasional video editing, absolutely not

Incorrect.

Long answer:

Refuse to give money to a retailer or other merchant, online or otherwise, to obtain a new AM4-socketed Central Processing Unit from Advanced Micro Devices that is to be released in the near future for a very balanced price versus performance ratio as well as providing a retailer with currency in return for a compatible AM4 board of mothers to house the said Central Processing Unit and provide it with a flow of electrons as well as connect it to the other electronic components inside a metal box that is on or near your desk all while disposing of, selling, or transferring the Intel-made socket LGA1151 four core eight thread Central Processing Unit running at 3,400,000,000 Hertz

If you're running Ivy Bridge or older, now would be a good time to consider upgrading.  But a 6xxx series CPU?   Hell no.

I'm wondering because it's the non-k version, a year old and only runs @3.4GHz instead of 4GHz. I would have bought the 4GHz version but I wasn't the one who purchased this PC.
