Mass Effect: Andromeda (play previous?)

do you guys think I should play the first two before playing the new one?

*sigh* there were 3 mass effect titles before the new one coming out this year...

But it looks like you should just be able to jump in so I don't think it's necessary but they are great games to play so it's entirely up to you :)

You mean first three? Not necessary from what I've heard.

You don't need to, but the games are inexpensive and have good gameplay. Story, on the other hand, goes in my Tell Tales bin where "make a decision now" equals "same result later".

You don't need to play them before Andromeda. Andromeda may take place 600 years after the main trilogy but the Andromeda cast left the Milky Way before the events of the first game. That said the first 3 games are great and well worth picking up.

the other 3 games were great, I'd look at picking them up in fact you can get ME2 free on origin right now, and the trilogy is only $29.99

You dont have to play them. Andromeda is a new start because BW and EA are too fucking lazy to solve the huge pile of ridiculous Nonsense they left behind with ME3.

ME1 is the best of the Series.

For story reasons, Andromeda can't really pick up where the others left off, and it actually takes place about 600 years after Mass Effect 3. I'm sure references will be made to the original trilogy, and its probably still worth playing them just because they're good, but I have a feeling you'll be alright if you skip them.

thanks everyone. If steam has the trilogy for under 10 ill grab the other two and play through them first, otherwise I will let them be.

You can only get 3 on origin.

Mass effect 2 is available for free on origin right now, so might as well hit that one up.  I think its a great game.

It's a completely different game so you won't need it to enjoy Andromeda.

That being said, the original trilogy is amazing and worth playing anyway.
