Quad core or dual core processor in Performance Base Surface Book?

I hate it when review sites and manufacturer sites dont include what specific processor the device has. All they said is Core i7 or 6th gen Core i7.

Would be awesome if you guys can let me know because $2000+ for a dual core device is just not worth it.

From my understanding it is too, guess I'll skip on it. You can get a near max XPS 15 with that price.

I knew they made dual core i5's (mostly mobile), but I've never heard of a dual core i7.

ULV i7s (aka i7 xxxxU processors) are literally just ULV i5s but with higher clock speeds  

I have a laptop with a i7 4500U and it's a 2c/4t CPU...

That's funny, because my 4200U feels like an i3 with Turbo Boost (which brings it to a measly 3.1GHz).

 

On another note, I recently took apart my laptop to reapply thermal paste (temperatures were going as high as 100C), and when I removed the giant mess that the previous person had applied (it actually might have been me, it's an old laptop ), I saw that it didn't have an IHS.  I've worked on plenty of laptops, and maybe that's common, but I don't remember seeing a CPU without an IHS before.

Because that's what your ULV i5 is? A mobile i3 but with turbo boost

It's classified as an i5 though.

 

So if an i7 is basically an i5, and an i5 is basically an i3, then an i7 is basically an i3.
