question about the switch

Has it been announced that the switch has a charger that doesn't have to be plugged into the big dock or have a car charger?

It charges via USB-C, not sure if it comes with one, but USB-C cables are relatively cheap.

Just like the mysterious XL battery for the WiiU that for some reason fit no problem.

Technically? Yes, kinda, not really.

 

The Switch and dock can both be powered via USB Type C. They do include a charge cable in the box but only one and you're probably going to use it for the dock. They don't include a second one which you can use for the Switch if you've got the first one hooked upto the dock. Which you will. It's also a power brick that you plug into a power socket rather than a USB A -> USB C cable.

 

But as a side note it does look like the Pro Controller is also charged via USB Type C. Haven't seen confirmation of this but it does look a lot like it. So if that's the case there's a very strong change that the Pro Controller will include a USB A -> USB C cable in the box. And in any case USB Type C is a standard cable. You can find them easily and they're pretty cheap. Charging won't be an issue.
