Dead cpu ideas

purple_rider

I have 2 dead cpus: a pga celeron d and a lga core 2 duo. They were both taken down by power supplies that spectacularly failed. Does anyone have suggestions on what to do with them?

Drill holes and make keychains. Sharpen an edge and have the best box opener. Quite a lot tbh :P

I drilled a pentium iii but do not want to chip the die. Might try it with the celeron d because it has the hole in the ihs.

Find the voltage pins on the CPU and make a hand warmer like GreatScott did.

Cool idea but I want to do something more visible.

That hole doesn't go all the way through. Drilling a hole through a chip will always kill it.

I stick them in a box with the idea of gluing them all into a picture frame. That started about a decade ago and hasn't gone past the box of cpus in the shed.

Silent build - You know your pc is too loud when the deaf complain. Windows 98 gaming build, smells like beige

I know. They were already dead. I was not killing them any more than the psu did.

I do not have either of those systems anymore. They took everything else in their case down with them: cpu, mobo, drives.

I'd recommend you make a coaster by casting the CPU in a transparent resin.

Kinda like this:
