BF4 has actually a bit better netcode than BF3. But more draws in 1on1  situations.

I have a better experience with BF4 than BF3, but that could be because of an upgrade in internet connection. I still notice the netcode issue though, especially after playing Counter Strike

Ha ha, I love Weird Al.  I haven't gotten a chance to play BF4 yet, but I never had much of a problem with BF3.  I trust that with the massive hype and following DICE is building in the series they will really work their hardest to fix the netcode, I think BF4 could really be one of the best modern shooters around if they got these issues ironed out.  The balance is there, especially in the infantry weapons.  There is enough openness and toys to goof around with when shooty-bangbang gets boring.   The new spectator mode will give people a tool to play with for hours.  Vehicles, duh.  The game is beautiful and sounds great.

Honestly, certain ranges in the game are more difficult than real life shots (0-3m and an awkward middle range (75-150m).  It is not that hard to hit an exposed man-sized target within 150m with a sighted m68 CCO.  I would say you can acquire, aim, and engage in about 4-5 seconds with a 3 second followup.  I've had more difficulty tracking targets in closer ranges in BF, especially up close where you can't really sense where someone you can't see is.  Obviously IRL automatic is impossible to control without a bipod from more than like 25m, (put an M4 on burst and tried hitting steel at like 15m, only 1 MAYBE 2 shots would ever hit the plate).   Distance is way easier in BF, past like 250m with no magnification, you can barely even tell if the target drops.  I am speaking from no real combat experience, but about 3 years of training.  People also run slower in real life than in BF, especially after some fighting and in a combat load.  Big difference is IRL vs. BF, you don't leave cover without someone suppressing the enemy, because unlike in Battlefield an enemy 240B/PKM/Type 88 light machine gun is a SUPER accurate highly effective longer range weapon that devastates infantry, damage does not drop off at a distance, in fact many higher velocity rounds are designed to be moving slower at range and then have less chance of passing through an enemy.  Until you have seen what a crew served weapon is like to fire, trust me, they are scary as hell to imagine pointed at you.

I haven't bought it yet, been an avid fan of BF3 but was sorely disappointed when BF4 beta came out. Now everyone's having a whinge about the lag and stuff. Is it worth coughing $90 up for it?

I think the game is GREAT now, but it would be almost perfect if they improved the netcode a bit, and made the medics a bit less powerful.

I think it is when they sort out the netcode issues and crashes and DC's..

Gotta comment again in this. Mostly netcode is better than in BF3. But then there's situations like yesterday when I experienced situation where I saw enemy run behind rock and I still got him. But aiming and sniping moving players is far more easier than it was in BF3.

Didn't they say a few months months ago that the netcode will be far better than BF3?
