Wait for cannonlake?

So I will be buying a gtx 1180 when it comes out later this year.  Although I will need to upgrade my cpu.  I was just curious if you guys think that cannonlake will be a bigger upgrade than kabylake was.

We have no idea. People were speculating that Kabylake was going to be a big improvement....

 

Unless Ryzen really puts pressure on Intel to up their game, I wouldn't hold out on Intel making any big improvements.

Uhm I don't think 11 series coming out this year, 1080 ti hasn't even released yet and Kaby Lake just got released this year.

Since you apparently have some crystal ball that tells you a GTX 1180 will be out later this year, maybe you can ask it if Cannonlake is worth waiting for too and let us know.

Don't make any bets on Intel pushing huge growth on Cannonlake. We barely saw any with Kabylake and there's even less information on the next architecture at the moment. I'd personally wait to see if Ryzen puts any pressure on and see what Intel has to respond with.

I hate when guys say "wait for xxxxxx". If you play the waiting game, you'll end up buying NOTHING.

Well I need to wait for the 1180.  I want to do 4k maxed out 60 fps in games like crysis 3.  I don't want to pay for a Titan xp.  The 1180 will be a bit more powerful for 600 dollars.

Pick your poison. While you're waiting, I'm enjoying the sweet spot in gaming (i5 6600k + gtx 1070). There's no need to spend all your money on a gaming rig.
