Hi , my name is Eason. So I was gonna upgrade my CPU but of course I went to check my motherboard "box" that it came in with. And I found out that it supported DDR2 ram. But when I ran Speccy and CPU-Z it said that I had a 2GB Kingston DDR3 ram stick , so I'm wondering if any of you can help me with this. The motherboard is a G41-M7 Intel Motherboard Version 6.5 , Socket 775. Thanks :D

Looks like this might be a fault with the software, all sites ive looked at say that it is ddr2, it might be that the software is too new and thus only goes back as far as ddr3

LGA775 is almost always DDR2, i have one that takes DDR and iv heard of boards that take DDR3 but almost always it will be DDR2 if its not special

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

#1. Treat others as you would like to be treated.

#2. It's best to keep your mouth shut; and appear to be stupid, rather than open it and remove all doubt.

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.

DDR2-vs-DDR3-RAM.jpg

DDR 2 and DDR 3 have way different keying

so take out the old RAM and place them side by side

some mis information here as well

some newer and i say newer G41 boards also have DDR3 support as well

My Gigabyte G41 M Combo comes with both DDR2 and DDR3 slots

so you can run either DDR2 or DDR3

but not BOTH
