laptop gpu not recognized

i bought a laptop with a 1050(not ti) and tried to install geforce experience, but it cannot find my graphics card. so far i've tried:

-checking device manager(including hidden devices) = think it is recognized as unknown device

- uninstalled the unknown device driver and reinstalling geforce experience. = fail to recognize

- nvidia website's gpu detection = cannot detect gpu

- directly downloaded driver for win 10 64bit(which is correct) 1050 driver = failed to recognize

- do all of the above after rebooting = no good

what should i do? since it is a laptop, replacing the card to a different slot is not an option. and i need it in at least 2 days so afterservice is a saving for last resort. reinstall windows?

Is the the orginal image or your own install

Is the gpu enabled in the bios?

no offence, but what do you mean by what laptop? original image? i downloaded the driver from the nvidia website. there were no gpu options in the bios

Brand, make and model. For example dell 7559.

Did you reinstall windows?

If you didn't change anything, it should be included out of the box and you don't have to install anything.

is that the only option...?

check the bios. There should be a option to turn of the gpu, check for that.

That's the only thing that worked for me, and I tried MANY different driver versions, adding the device string manually to the drivers, changing bios settings (legacy support, etc.) and that's what ended up fixing it.

hmm i hope i'm gonna try that last though... but thanks neverthless

the only gpu related option in the bios i found was the one for allowing overclocking. can you tell me what it should say roughly?

Look for something like gpu mode intergrated or discrete.

Im assuming if you use a game, it will perform badly.

Also does the gpu show up in linux?

you don't have to install it, just put it on a usb and boot it from there. Then open a terminal, type lspci | grep VGA and it should show you if there is a 1050.

*extremely late update*

for anyone else who might have this problem later on, update your intel graphics driver first. then you may be able to find your graphics card.
