Alright good people,

I am using this wonderful Aero Cool mATX PC case it comes with the clear window on the side etc.

I have found (under load) my MSI 1070 8GB Gaming X GPU goes from around 70 to 50, when I take the window side panel off - which is real nice. I also have less noise, with the side panel off, go figure.

My GPU fan's literally blow onto the window due to how it's mounted.

So I am thinking of removing the perspex window, and replacing with a reasonably heat resistant black micro mesh?

Anyone got any ideas on this, the best material to use etc as I am most likely to hash it up if I don't ask.

I am not concerned about dust really, and would rather look at doing this than try and alter the fan's that came with it etc.

Cheers.

Just the ones it came with, 1 in, 1 out both slow RPM silent ones etc.

I would rather not change them as it's awkward and likely to deliver far less results than the simple case mod I am looking at.

With it being mATX form factor, and me overclocking it to within an inch of it's life I decided to take the side panel off to see what difference it made, it made a huge difference with no additional noise and no additional power draw etc.

Ok so someone has suggested I just drill holes in the existing window - which seems perfectly logical to me.

Anyone else done this?

it would work or it wouldn't, I say wouldn't because myself for one can't get a drill hole where I want it, no less a grid of them. You could just get a hole saw and put a larger hole in it and cover the hole with a fan screen / filter, in your case more for astetics

The fan on the GPU would blow away from the window but if you wanted to have as much airflow as possible something like modders mesh or black plastic mesh will work:

ah cheers for the links, the GPU fans blow directly out currently onto the clear perspex pane, so in theory if the pane has holes the air hot air goes out - I think.
