Laptop suggestions under $2000

So I'm looking for a new laptop.

So far I'm looking at a clevo p650hs-g

With an i7 7700hq, gtx 1070, 16gb of ddr4 ram and the 120hz screen with gsync. This come out to around $1800

Any other suggestions on what I should look for?

I am looking for a bit of future proofing.

Looks are somewhat important to me (I don't really want an overly flashy MLG looking rig.)

The laptop will mainly be used for gaming.

Should I really go with a i7 7700 over a 6700?

Sorry it's a clevo p650hs-g

I forgot the "p"

The Clevo P650HS is a great machine.  If you don't mind a fat machine the MSI 16L13 barebones with a desktop cpu may be worth a look but that's about it.

I've tried nearly every gaming laptop in existence, and I own a Clevo P650RS (last gen cpu).

I've noticed the rs (with the i7-6700hq) is about $75-100 cheaper.

Is it worth the little bit extra for the i7 7700hq?

Not really.  I got the 6820hk version though.  If you can get that I'd take it over a 7700HQ all day.

I'm going with the 120hz screen with gsync over the i7-7700hq because from the benchmarks I've seen the gtx 1070 runs just about every current game at over 100fps also from what I hear the 120hz has a lower latency (5ms instead of 20+ms) and it has a slightly wider color gamut.

Thoughts?

That's awful for gaming value...

Is there any performance reason to get a 17 inch over the 15 inch?

For example does it cool any better?

Specifically between the P650 and P670 not really.  Both are pretty well cooled.  Probably a couple degrees lower on the 17" but it's a very competent 15".  My temps are more than fine.

Yes. Unless you can get the 6820HK for cheaper. The real issue with the 6700HQ is that it's for core turbo is 3.1ghz which is shit. At least the 7700HQ goes up to 3.4ghz. If you can get the 6820HK, then definitely that one. That thing will OC to 4.0ghz no problem and with some modding and nudging up to 4.2ghz (silicon lottery standards apply).

The 6820hk is about $60 more then the 7700hq. The new 7820hk is about $160 more.

Either of those worth it?

What site r u looking to buy from. I recommend all the Prema partners as you'll have a much better experience and performance with them. With HID evolution s oem windows option, it brings its overall price down, so that's highly recommended.

Currently I'm looking at xotic and prostar.

They both can post on amazon so that I can can some bonuses and 0% financing (which let me convince my wife to let me spend more)

Also, what's your opinion on screen choice? The 120hz 1080p or the 4k screen?

I'm going with the i7 6820hk and the gtx 1070

XoticPC is good. Go with that one. They are set to become a Prema Partner in the near future provided nothing goes wrong.
