New rig What RAM ?

Yeah i'll probably go for the i5-7600k but i will still wait for the Ryzen cpu to get released before i buy anything. But i'm looking now over memory again. And Normal 2400 mhz cl15 isn't that much cheaper then the platinum 2400 mhz cl10

And Corsairs 2666 mhz cl 15 is as cheap as their 3000 mhz cl 15 Both cost around 120$ while the others i had in my build cost 180$. Should i go for something like that instead?

when is comes to ram pick a brand ie corsair pick how much u want 16gb and pick the cheapest 1 basically as long as its 2133mhz+ if u can get 3000mhz ram at £5 more then yolo why not but dont go out and spend £50 just to get 3000mhz when it will make basically no difference

So i'm building my new gaming pc and i don't really know what RAM i should get. The once i have been looking at are the:

Corsair Dominator Platinum DDR4 PC19200/2400MHz CL10 2x8GB (CMD16GX4M2B2400C10).

and

Kingston HyperX Savage Black DDR4 PC21300/2666MHz CL13 2x8GB (HX426C13SBK2/16).

which one is better?

Or should i go for the other ones with much higher frequency like 3000-3200 mhz but with Cl 15-16 ?

They are way to expensive, not worth it.

I'd suggest sth like that:

frequency wont impact that much on gaming so you dont need OVER 9000000mhz ram...

just get any ram between 2133-2666 and you will be fine. Latency is fine 14-16, you will not notice the difference

games or video rendering?

For games it dont matter much at all (no FPS in it), so get decent quality, good price at 2133 (Skylake) or 2400 (KabyLake)

If you are rendering a lot then there is some (limited) value in the higher bandwidth, so check the max rated memory clock (OC on Z series MoBo) for you motherboard and get what you can afford that is at least 2400.

If you can fit faster Ram into your budget without skimping on other important aspects of your build than why not, but i firmly believe anything more than 16GB 1600Mhz (2333Mhz since DDR4 and Z170) for gaming at least is worthless, yes some titles will benefit from faster ram more than others but as far as i've seen, that difference only appears beyond 100 FPS, so you go from 120 to ~126 for example, so what i mean to say really is faster ram (if you're running a dedicated GPU) won't shoot your FPS from 30 to 60, it just won't.

Thanks for all the answers. Yeah it is for gaming.

My rig so far is set up by this (Not set in stone yet)

CPU: Intel core i7 7700k

GPU: none (Maybe something like a 1070 or something, Waiting for Vega release though to check it out)

Mobo: z170 or z270e

Storage: Samsung 960 Evo 500gb

Cooling: Corsair h110

Power supply: Corsair RM650x

I am not overly concerned by the performance per dollar ratio. I want to get alot of performance but without going for ridiculous amount just to get that 1% improvement.

high speed ram is a waste unless as linus said yr going for some sort of OC record you only need 2133mhz i mean unless you have your rig built and u have like £150 to throw at 16gb of them then knock your self out get 3000mhz ram but you money will be better off in other parts not high speed ram

if this rig is for gaming dont bother with an i7 the single core performance is only the same or next to no difference the same at the i5-7600k which is a lot cheaper there for more money for a gpu

Yeah but i have heard from a friend that i5 cpu's doesn't like it to stream while gaming. I want to be able to have the ability to do so. Or maybe he is just lacking in power (i5-3350 i think he had)

i7 will be better for streaming yes but is the price jump worth it just to steam i get 80% usage on my i5-7600k on them settings for bf1 at 3.9ghz and the cpu boosts to 4.5 i think it is so theres a lot of head room to OC  that if u wanted to

Yeah maybe not. Yeah OC is a possibility, spec when i'm going for a decent water cooler. And i save about 105£ if i go for the i5 instead. Will have to think alittle which one then, but that is fine since i was still gonna wait for the new Ryzen cpu to come out before i bought mine anyway. Even if i wouldn't buy it i think it will push the price down alittle on intels cpu's. But so i should just go for a decent 2400 mhz cl15 memory kit for like 80-90$ instead of going for the other with 2400 mhz cl10 that costs 160$, the performance improvement wouldn't be that noticable?

i7 for gaming? wut.

Even Corsair 16GB LED kit are good enough, no need for dom plats at all. just a waste of money for looks.

Getting alot of "Hate" over the i7 choice 9_9. Well i am sick of low Fps while gaming now and i want to have a good computer that i can stream if i wanted to while gaming and also that it will be good enough for some time to come. is the i5 7600k up to that challenge?

like i said on the i5-7600k and a rx480 8gb rs model from xfx i get 80% usage on the cpu at 1440p ultra running at 80fps you can steam on that run 1080p or high not ultra problem solved if u get low fps

I personally always go with HyperX Fury RAM, I have a 32GB DDR4 kit in Ulamog.

I do believe in a god: Libertina, the goddess of the sea, apple pie, certain types of ice cream and short bits of string.
