How reliable is FSP PSU?

MillAsusRog

I have a 400W 80 platinum FSP PSU that came with my Lenevo computer.. is it good or bad? I don't know anything about the FSP brand and how reliable their products are.. I want to know if it's okay to game with this PSU?

FSP is a pretty good brand. You should be fine.

Do you know the specific model of the PSU? I can be more certain that way.

A 400W 80+ Platinum from FSP? Never heard of it before.

I think it's a FSP400-60ETN

FSP's high-end units are mostly OK, but they have a lot of bad ones. If it's in a prebuilt, I don't mind you using it, but keep in mind it can probably only do 370W ish off the 12V rail (don't use it with a 250W + GPU).

sorry I thought  that was another name for the PSU I had

It might be a different product but there is only one or two 400W Platinum PSUs from FSP. I can't find info on them but OEM units tend to not be terrible so don't worry about it.

I can second that. Its included-with-case PSU that are a real worry. My 2013 Thermalfake "500w peak" PSU (its actually a 400W that gets damaged if it goes over that for more than a few seconds) sucks badly compared to my 2004 Compa OEM PSU. It may have thinner wires than the Thermalfake, but it runs a lot cooler even when loaded to 100% and is a switching PSU unlike the Thermalfake (the Thermalfake runs hot at even a 50% load with the fan always running at 100%, and reuires me to manually set the wall voltage).
