Why doesn't Minecraft support SLI?

Also, what kind of framerates would I get in Minecraft with an i5 7600k and a GTX 1070 (considering I have already chosen the remainder of the components for a PC build)?

I know that might be a bit overkill for just Minecraft, but just wondering for hypothetical purposes.

you don't need the gpu power, intel hd graphics will run it at 1080p60, so any modern dgpu will max 4k

You will get whatever Minecraft caps its frame rate at, most games cap at around 300fps.

I would say a gtx 1060 is enough for Minecraft. About 90 Fps on a normal terrain.

 

Mincraft can't support sli because it's programmed with java and java doesn't support the usage of a second gpu

I run around 400 fps with a 6700k and 1070 on normal terrain without a texture pack or shader.  120-140 fps with a shader.
