Optiplex 990 + Core v21 + 1060 6gb = gaming?

Hello all,

I have an Optiplex 990 with an i5 2400, a D6H9T mobo, and a 1TB hdd. Does anyone know if I can mount this mobo in a Thermaltake Core v21, and then put a Corsair CX550M in it? Does this motherboard also support a 2.5" ssd and a 1060 6gb?

If you know the answer to any of these questions, please respond. If these components are not compatible, please recommend some that are.

Thanks!

They often use custom/OEM motherboards that have non-standard mounting points, so it may not work.

Okay. Assuming some of the mounting points line up, do you know if the board can fit in the case? (Meaning it's not too big)

Nope, cause Dell Mobos come inverted and often have totally different mounting holes.

You gotta find yourself an inverted case, e.g. some really expensive Dark Silent wings case thing (I can't be bothered to look it up)

Also, the optiplex series (I'm pretty sure) is in a BGX form factor, which is pretty hard to buy for now.

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Not all of them come inverted. I've seen some MicroATX Dell boards around.

I'm doing the same thing build idea right now I'm pretty sure the gpu will be fine as long as you install a higher watt psu and remount pre built mother boards are a pain and expensive not worth it also is the case it's coming in is it small form factor

Yeah, it's the mini tower variant, so it's the largest type of 990, but still mITX.

Those cases are mATX, not mITX.
