Need help with AD and homefolders

Another option with FreeNAS since it's implementation of CIFS/SMB leaves a little bit to be desired, is using iSCSI then mounting it to a windows server (vm or physical). I have had some ups and downs with joining FreeNAS to AD, but here lately it's been pretty solid. Actually helped close out an AD bug in freenas 10 :-D. I'm sure there will be more :'(

 

Within AD user properties, under profile > home folder > local path - whatever you put there should automagically create the needed folder assuming the root folder of your share has the appropriate permissions. Hasn't been an issue for me yet. Each created home folder seems to have proper permissions. No GPOs needed.

 

(I don't have any scripts for creating users, very small environment where we may do 3-4 new users a month)
