LG 38UC99 with an Imac 2013, mouse movement problem

Hello, 

 

My friend has recently bought a widescreen monitor from LG (LG 38UC99) to replace his broken Apple Thunderbolt display.

We have connected them via a Thunderbolt 2.0 to HDMI 2.0 dongle and an HDMI 2.0 cable.

The screen seems to work OK and Mac OS Sierra seems to accelerate the mouse on the Imac correctly, however on the screen every movement seems to have a delay.
Does anyone experience the same problem when working with different screen ratio's on a mac or does anybody know a solution to this problem?
