Monitor purchase help.

Hello there, I'm looking for a new computer display and I'm really confused which one to choose... I'm a Design student, I use Illustrator, Photoshop and other apps frequently. Also I love gaming with good graphics. I currently have a 5-8 years old 21" LG LCD (It's now fading, running out of range and making no sense of my gaming rig!). I was looking for big display with good refresh rate and display quality; but I can't afford high end displays like ROG and Predator.

I heard curved displays are really nice but aren't long living. I was looking for 35" but it's only 60hz. (is Refresh rate that impactful? Should I think about size more than refresh rate?).

Will 1080p games look ugly on a 2k or higher display? I have 1070/6700k and I don't want to go 4k extreme level... But still I want good ppi for designing. I know my requirements are more than my wallet size but I guess there's something made for me!
