4k monitor in old hardware

SuicideNation

Hello.  2017 will be the year I will buy a new very powerful PC. I already got the money I just decided to wait a little do check the AMD new cpu/gpu. Sadly my monitor died so I have to buy a new one. My current pc isn't anything special. I have an i3-3220 and an AMD Radeon series 5.

My question is. Can these support a 4K monitor? I don't care about games until I get the new pc. I only care about Internet,  Netflix, downloaded movies and YouTube. I don't want to buy a cheap 1080p monitor because in 2-3 months I will buy 2 4k ones. So will it work?

i think you can buy your new screens and force the resolution to go down to 1080 or something around that. don't know anything about the cpu if it could handle it.

Yeah but then again why would you buy a 4k monitor and run it on 1080p

Because it's temporary. I will buy a new powerful PC in 2 months. It's just my current monitor died so I need one. If I can use it in 1080p respectable for 2 months with my current hardware I won't have to buy a new monitor and I could buy my 4k one and then move it to the new pc
