Alright guys I have another one for you guys. I currently have the following build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BJXByf. It works perfectly fine however I am looking to put together a build that will blow anything I throw at it out of the water. So things to preface this with is I want to stay around the 8000 USD for everything excluding the desk. I am wanting to rock a triple monitor set up (resolution is not that big of a factor my current build has 2560x1440). I am wanting SLI 1080's (Non founders card because I hate the look). I am wanting the colors to be black and yellow (just because its a bit different). So any and all help would be greatly appreciated as I want something crazy but have a good price per dollar. Thank you Again here is the PC Part Picker https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rTdY2R

Yea I understand that which is one reason I am posting it here to get some advice on how to lower the price without killing my performance as I am wanting to use this PC for major Video Editing and Rendering (among other things). And want top of the line to get it done.

Why not just get a 6950x ? since this is beyond what most any full time professional animator or videographer needs anyways

Ah okay. Have you thought about getting an ultrawide instead of 3 27" 1440 monitors? You're gonna need a big desk for that. Also that's any awful lot of storage.

Got it. Let's turn the price way down without losing any performance at all.

This build has better monitors because as a video editor you want good color accuracy. The BenQ is a professional monitor that received the Editor's Choice at tomshardware.com and the ASUS are good ole 1440p 144Hz.

Changed the CPU to just about the best you can get that's reasonable (overclock it)

Oh and these 1080s are yellow :)

Did away with the speakers, you already have headphones.

Okay if you're into it, not sure how well 2 1080s will handle triple 1440 144hz though. Maybe wait till the 1080 Ti drops?

If you're doing a lot of professional rendering you want more cores.

Why do you have 2 SSDs? Purpose?

You don't need that many fans. You can save some money there.

Do you plan on gaming over three monitors? If not, just get one 1080, or a 1080Ti.

If you do a ton of rendering, why don't you get 2 systems in a single tower? One for gaming, and a dual Xeon rig for rendering? You can get 6c/12t Xeons ridiculously cheap. Then as you're rendering you can either work on something else, or game.

True, but even if it was...who games on two monitors? ;) It'd either be 1 or 3.

It's not that much more for an ultrawide plus 2 regular monitors is it? I wonder if that'd be more useful from a productivity standpoint. 34" up top, the 2 27" below, one for gaming.

So the 2SSD's was because I didnt know which would be better for my tasks the M.2 or standard so I put them both there to figure out at a later date after doing a bit more research.

With the fans I understand I dont need that many but honestly I like being able to have the RGB look and thats really all.

Gaming over three monitors no but Having one that I can put a capture of my Xbox or PS4 (when I play them for youtube) having one for OBS and chat and then having the third to keep other things on is nice but I can do all of that with more professional grade monitors and keep the single gaming one for the actual game so that is a solid point

2 systems in one tower seriously seems like a lot of head ache

Again after you mentioning it switching out one of the gaming monitors for a professional one would be a much better choice.

If it would be more usable from a professional standpoint to add an Ultra Wide I would have no issues with an increased cost. The budget I have is flexible as I am not footing the entire build (my company is covering half of whatever machine I build up to 5k)

  • 2 systems in one tower isn't really that hard. I mean, it's twice the work, but building a computer is a piece of cake. I'd definitely consider it, as it would come out to about the same cost if not less. Being able to work on 2 things at once can be a huge benefit. Of course that's only if your company would let you buy refurbished/second hand hardware for the Xeon side.
  • Ah, I see. Since you have that kind of budget I'd just go with the NVMe drive. It's faster when it comes to video stuff iirc.
  • Understandable about the fans, but you can get the same effect with strips at a greatly reduced price. If you get a decent motherboard it should have RGB support.
  • The PA series from Asus is always a good place to start, or the Ultrasharp line from Dell.

Alright Ill take a look at some NVMe drives to find one that would work unless you have a good suggestion.

Fair enough of the Fans I can 100% fine some good prices RGB strips

And Ill take a look at those monitors and find one I like

If it would be more usable from a professional standpoint to add an Ultra Wide I would have no issues with an increased cost. The budget I have is flexible as I am not footing the entire build (my company is covering half of whatever machine I build up to 5k)

If you take a look at this review, there's some pictures and he goes into brief detail with some different programs and how he found using the ultrawide. Not sure if you're using the same, but you might be able to decide if it would be beneficial for you or not. It'd be about another $125ish to get an ultrawide over a standard monitor.

Ahhh, makes way more sense now. If a large portion is a business write off, might as well go for decent top end gear.

What capacity are you looking at? If you're going for 1TB drives there aren't that many. The 960 Pro is what I'd go for. They have a 2TB version but it's...pricey to say the least.
