What PSU should I get for my build?

iiEmpathy

Hello everyone,

I have a simple but important question regarding my build. Is 550w suitable for my build? I believe the PSU is a good quality one, its just that I don't know how many Watts I need!

https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/qgxtNN I currently have a 550w PSU for my build.

How many watts do I need?

Oh he's very wrong. Probably just trying to get you to buy a more expensive part.

They do use more power than a regular desktop, but not 700 watts of power haha, could run a 6700k and sli 1080's on 700 watts.

True, was going to say SLI titan xp's initially but I think at max load, with something like a 6600/6700k, that may just push over 700 :P

550w is more then enough. Here is the PSU tier list if you want to check other PSU's. The XFX in your list is a tier 2, so that is indeed a good one. If it has a 500 or 550w variant you know it is good.

Would recommend going unlocked though so you can OC in the future for increased usable lifespan. Allthough a bit more costly now, it is cheaper in the long run. If you look for a cooler then the 212 Evo is a good budget cooler and the Scythe Fuma is very affordable high end aircooler.

Also get a 250GB SSD instead. I asume you game and 120 is quickly full with new triple A titels these days.

I'd recommend a cx550m by corsair. They have all black cable sleeves as well so it'll look good

i'm not sure why you still have to ask, but:

http://www.anandtech.com/show/10540/the-geforce-gtx-1060-founders-edition-asus-strix-review/16

less than 300w of power used under load.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

The XFX you listed in the system is good but the 550W version is still more than double what that system will demand.

|PSU Tier List /80 Plus Efficiency| PSU stuff if you need it.

My system: PCPartPicker || For Corsair support tag @Corsair Josephor @Corsair Nick || My 5MT Legacy GT Wagon ||
