Rx 480 Crossfire vs Gtx 1070

Just wondering which one you would prefer All cards would be non-reference  if that helps at all

Less cards = less problems.

1070, crossfire isn't always supported in all games so 1070 is your beast choice.

I wouldn't crossfire.  Not many games have very good multi-gpu support anymore.  So go for the 1070.

Depends on the usage. A 480 CF doesn't make much sense in most cases though.

Yes.  Crossfire/SLI aren't really very viable when game devs don't typically support it very well.

Crossfire 480's over a single 1070 any day. Better price to performance by far.

Single 1070.

You'll require less wattage now,

Less heat and throttling issues, if any,

Will run more games at higher frame-rates,

and you can add a 2nd 1070 in the future if you'd like to do so.

If I didn't care about heat output then rx 480s for sure. Crossfire works fine, it isn't 2010.

If it needs two cards to beat one card, It's Bad. Period. The most important things are Clock Speed, Memory Speed, Memory, and Cores. And the 1070 beats one RX 480 on all 4 factors. And by the way, No. Two 4GB VRAM Cards doesn't mean 8GB VRAM Available for use.

Not really the issue anyway, the RX480 is available with 8GB as well

Oh my bad i thought there was only the 4GB Version. But I can see why you would question the performance of the RX480 (x2) VS A GTX 1070. Price. To be honest, I would get neither of these cards, and just wait until I had enough for a 1080. You never want to say "I want the most cheapest option with the best performance". You want to say "I want to get the best GPU That can run everything I want to play for years to come" One simple rule: No. Compromises.

Unless you play at 1080p and a 1070 is more than enough. Or even 1440p. You can't generalize getting the most expensive product, that's not how everyone thinks. Some people like to upgrade their GPU every year, so a 1080 is a bad investment.

Yes they do say that, But they shouldn't. My advice, Save your money.
