This is gonna be a long one.

As it says inbthe tittle

I recently installed a new gpu-rx 480,the computer ran fine for 2 days after the install and then something in it made a boom noise,it shut off and you could smell something burnt,at first nothing seemed wrong so i tried turning it on after a while... Nothing, not even a single reaction from the pc

Previusly the power supply did shut down due to refusing to turn the fan one so that might be it.

Anybody got an idea to what the culprit is?

We're basically helpless without the specifications of your PC. This includes the model number of everything, but most importantly, the model of the power supply, and the CPU and GPU so we know what sort of strain you were putting on it.

I suspect the PSU is not up for the job.

PC - NZXT H510 Elite, Ryzen 5600, 16GB DDR3200 2x8GB, EVGA 3070 FTW3 Ultra, Asus VG278HQ 165hz,

Mac - 1.4ghz i5, 4GB DDR3 1600mhz, Intel HD 5000.  x2

Endlessly wishing for a BBQ in space.

exploded? the only thing I can think of is some bad caps, probably your psu since you just upgraded to the new gpu

If the psu is damaged why is it still sending power to the USBs and motherboard LEDs?

no idea.. anyway.. if something exploded just open your case and look... its a waste of time for us to guess whats wrong

I worded it wrong then, there was a loud noise like when you hear something pop like when a power fuse goes out,and the model isnt listen on the motherboard,i just wisg to know if the psu did it or something else, and there are no visual burn marks or damage on the components

That sounds perfectly like it,though what are the odds it took something with it?

well probably caps are what control the electricity. please throw away your psu, most likely other components are harmed.

It's probably sending just enough power to power any connected USB devices and the motherboard LED's, but it can't send the amount of power required to power up the PC when the power button is pressed.

Since you haven't even mentioned the manufacturer of the power supply, I'd have to guess that it's a no name piece of cheap crap and has given up the ghost.

I'd suggest getting a new power supply from a reputable brand and see if that gets everything up and running, but if it doesn't then it's more likely that the PSU took some of the other components with it to the electronic graveyard.
