Just restarted my PC randomly got 5gb of space back? i disabled hibernation聽

Hibernation creates a file that is massive compared to most. It is large so it can hold everything that was in your RAM while the computer is off. That file is then emptied into RAM when the computer turns back on.聽

That's what i read, it's been doing this for days, space randomly going and coming back, there wasn't any Windows updates downloaded so it couldn't be that, i'm confused

I've un-hidden them now and it's still the same, almost 10gb un-accounted for

You have to also uncheck "Hide protected operating system files".

It's better to use another program, like WinDirStat.

^- This. You also have "Super-Hidden" files like "pagefile.sys" which is memory swap to disk in case you use up the physical memory. It will purge upon shutdown and reappear when booting up again. It preallocates the pagefile space, you can change your page file settings in the control panel. Since you had hibernation on, there's also a file for that. It's basically a copy of your system's memory. When you bring the pc back from hibernation, it loads the system memory with data from this file.
