A Question about GPU:s and Building my first PC

Hi,

I'm planning my first PC build.

I've decided to buy my graphics card first and then slowly buy the other parts when i have money.

The reason for this is that i could put the new graphics card in to my old pre-build computer and then transfer it to the new one, when I have all the parts.

The GPU would be a GTX 1070 and it would replace the GTX 680 that came with the pre-build.

Now I have run into a problem with this. I was going to get an open-air gpu with two fans, but I heard that it could cause thermal throttling in my current pre-build.

My pre-build has one intake fan one the CPU (which draws air from the holes on the sides of the case) and one exhaust on the back of the computer.

Now if I get a  "blower style" gpu like the founders edition, etc., there would be no problem with the pre-build. But would it be stupid to have that kind of a gpu in the custom PC with many fans on it?.

NOW before you say that "why is this a problem, just don't put it in the pre-build and wait for the other parts!"I know, but because I'm kinda poor, it's going to take a long time before I have all the parts. I would like to use the gpu on the mean time and have at least some upgrade on my performance before the "dream PC".

So if you understood what I'm asking here, could you give me some advice on this situation.

Sorry if the sentences were weirdEnglish isn't my native language : D.

Full system specs? There might be a cpu/ram/other things bottleneck, that disallows you to use the 1070s full potential.

I would get the dual fan version for better performance later on and then clean out my case of dust as much as I could and put my computer away from any walls or stuff so it can breathe.

Welcome to Maryland.

We have crabs.

I'd save up until you can buy all at once. A GTX 680 is still very capable at 1080p gaming as it is basically a GTX 960in terms of performance. What are the rest of the specs of the pre-built?

Frankly you really should listen to the advice of buying everything at once because you'll be kicking yourself in the ass over it later, but the GPU itself will be fine.

Regardless, I assume you have an intake and exhaust fan for your case, that should be enough to keep an open air style cooler from overheating. If it's not you can use something like SpeedFan to have the case fans increase speed when the GPU heats up or replace the fans with something a little bit better.

Your English is fine.

If I were you, I'd for sure just continue to save up money. A 3770k and 680 is pretty good even for today's standards and I'd hold for Vega, Ryzen and maybe even Volta.

Can you maybe take a picture of the psu, so we can see what oem it is and how much w there is on the 12V.

Okey, thanks for the advice everyone!

I'm going to just wait until I have more money and buy most of the parts at once. I know that this pre-build is pretty okay, but I just really love to play on the highest settings and this 680 isn't cutting it anymore on the latest games and Ofc I really want to build my own computer.:)
